In 10 years of touring as a principal performer with Ice Follies & holiday On Ice, and Walt Disney's World On Ice, there is a lot of backstage time between acts. Greg choose to spend that time developing several skills such as juggling, rope spinning (ala Will Rogers), proficiency with a bull whip, leather craft, practicing Tae Kwon-do, and Tai Chi, Balloon Twisting, and Magic.
In addition to skating Greg has spent many years as a professional Magician and Clown, and has had several opportunities to put those skills to use as a special skills performer in movies and TV. If you don't blink, you can catch him in a scene with Meg Ryan & Adam Brody in the 2007 released movie, In The Land of Women.
For ten months in the year 2000 Greg had the good fortune to be asked to put his skating, magic, and acting together in three different productions at the Ice Castle Theatre in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. One of those productions was Nancy Kerrigan's Halloween On Ice, which besides running 29 performances at the theatre, was also shown on ESPN 2.
For the past eight summers, Greg has been teaching magic, stage magic craft, & prop design and construction, as well as creating, building, directing, and producing magic shows at the Sports and Arts Centre at Island Lake, near New York City.
Upon returning to Vancouver Island in 1990, Greg began producing family variety shows for community theatre, and over the years of coaching, has used his magic skills and contacts in the entertainment world to do fund raisers for some of the skating clubs that he has worked for. Most recently, A Magical Mystical Evening with Greg Ladret and Friends, staring Two Time World Champion Of Magic Shawn Farquhar, and International Award Winning Magician Clinton W. Grey. The show also featured performances by Greg and two of his skating students who had been attending his magic workshops at the local community centre.
Closer to home, Greg performed in Magicfest 2005 & 2006 at the Sid Williams Theatre, and Magicfest 2008 at the Tide Mark Theatre.
